NEXT OF KIN

In a rest home, a daughter reads her mother's diary, and events from it begin to happen to her. 1982's NEXT OF KIN is a slasher mystery—-and the best movie you've never seen. NEXT OF KIN went unnoticed for a number of years in Australia, but fans kept its memory alive. Quentin Tarantino, one of the film’s most vocal admirers, compared it favorably to THE SHINING. Presented by B-movie expert A.C. Nicholas as part of his Hidden Gems series. Tickets.

WEEKNIGHTS

WEEKNIGHTS

Movies speak a visual language. More and more, they speak the same visual language. Not WEEKNIGHTS. A three-way character-study, thematically about loneliness, this tiny but lovingly crafted movie is essentially a montage. Lengthy wide shots. No score. Very little dialogue. Just characters in a place, revealing themselves to us with gestures, a few words, mostly silence. It's beautiful and meditative. Join director Alfred Giancarli for an unforgettable night with a new kind of movie. Tickets.
